29.11.2002 - HDToolBox takes shape...
 | Start Window with selected fdsk.device that contains one Unit (see left
lister).
PNG 800x630 (26KB) | | Double click on fdsk.device shows all available units of the device
here -> Unit 0 which contains a PC-MBR-Partition Table with 3 partitions.
PNG 800x630 (26KB) |
 | Click on "Change Type" or "Create Table" shows the window where you can
choose which type of partition table should be created.
PNG 800x630 (26KB) | | Click on "Resize/Move" lets one resize move partitions of the selected
harddisk/unit.
PNG 800x630 (27KB) |
 | A doubeclick on a HD/Unit shows all partitions a click on "Change Type"
pops up the PC-MBR partition type chooser for partition 0.
PNG 800x630 (31KB) | | A click on "Create Table" displays the partition table type chooser.
PNG 800x630 (28KB) |
 | A RDB partition table was created and with a doubleclick we can now see the partitions of the newly created table. We currently don't have any so "AddEntry" displays this window.
PNG 800x630 (27KB) | | A partition named DH0 is now created. Let's rename it to "HD0".
PNG 800x630 (27KB) |
 | Check the DosEnvec entries after having clicked the "DosEnvec" button.
PNG 800x630 (27KB) | | Enable automount and bootable by clicking on "Switches".
PNG 800x630 (26KB) |
 | The partition is too big - so resize it to 10G using the "Resize/Move" button.
PNG 800x630 (27KB) | | A click on "Change Type" shows the available PartitionTypes.
PNG 800x630 (26KB) |
 | Go back to the first window with the devices, select fdsk.device and click on
"Save Changes".

 | The Locale, Input, Serial and Font preference programs.
PNG 800x600 (56KB) | | Always the same MUI test applications, plus a barebone Zune prefs editor and another little
application, testing the layout engine. You can see how Zune is improving!
PNG 800x600 (25KB) |
|
17.3.2002 - Here it comes: MUI!
 | A MUI test application running under AROS hosted, using the Zune engine.
PNG 808x624 (81KB) | |
|
10.1.2002 - Three demos running simultanously on AROS
 | Behold AROS in all its beauty: these three demos are running at the
same time, carefully supervised by exec. From left to right,
"Flamme", "Knp" and "Firework" all show their stuff (the latter
demo being the latest addition to the AROS deck of magic cards).
PNG 797x569 (144KB) | |
|
22.10.2001 - Programming in False
 | Now you can also develop in AROS using the False programming language by Wouter van
Oortmerssen! The screenshot show a False program displaying all primes between 0 and
100 (backwards), with the sourcecode just above. Nice and readable, eh? ;-)
PNG 800x600 (52KB) | |
|
18.10.2001 - Development in AROS
 | Doing some development *in* AROS using XDME and Python. The Python program that is
being edited can be seen in action, drawing a simple AROS logo in a window using the
IntuitionLibrary module.
PNG 800x601 (48KB) | | A session with the interactive Python interpreter, using it to list the contents
of some directories and read from a text file.
PNG 799x599 (51KB) |
|
28.2.2001 - Preferences programs
 | The first prefs program is finished: Locale. The languages and countries you
see in the image are all implemented in AROS. The GUI strings in the image are
in German to show that locale.library and catalogs are working.
PNG 808x628 (38KB) | |
|
22.2.2001 - Finally some new screenshots
 | Knp, DawaFire, Galaxy. All these look much better in motion, though
JPEG 808x628 (79KB) | | Multiview with ascii.datatype, binary.datatype and text.datatype in
action.
PNG 808x628 (28KB) |

PNG 808x628 (41KB) |

IBM compatible computers.
 | Running natively on IBM compatible computers
JPEG 810x630 (38KB) | | Running under Linux
PNG 808x628 (20KB) |
|
6.4.2000 - Directory Opus 4.12 running under AROS. Still a bit unstable and some things
which don't work (because of not yet implemented AROS functions, no ARexx,
...), but it does work!
 | Linux Desktop with the Workbench Screen and DOpus running on it's own screen
JPEG 1024x768 (175KB) | | Linux Desktop with the Workbench Screen and ConfigOpus running on it's own
screen .
JPEG 1024x768 (133KB) |

JPEG 838x658 (115KB) | | Or you can run it several times in small windows
JPEG 838x658 (130KB) |
 | This one has less but bigger windows
JPEG 838x658 (120KB) | | You can run it in multiplayer mode on one machine. Its hard to control, tough.
Too many fingers on keyboard :-)
JPEG 838x658 (119KB) |
|

 | Same picture in two formats
PNG 808x628 (27KB) | |
|
25.7.1999 - A small window with three mutually exclusive gadgets plus a window

PNG 822x618 (4KB) |
|
2.3.1999 - Screenshots (real screenshots :-)) of the IBMPC port of AROS.
This is a standalone version of AROS (which means that the computer is
booted with AROS as opposed to the emulation flavour where the computer
is booted with another OS and AROS runs as an application on that OS).
You can see AROS
 | booting...
JPEG 768x512 (28KB) | | and running (it doesn't do much, yet. It just runs
SAD, the serial debugger and waits for input).
JPEG 591x487 (21KB) |
 | A bit closer.
JPEG 692x352 (24KB) | | A real screenshot of the running AROS.
JPEG 460x346 (27KB) |
 | and bigger. The dark character in the right top edge is not a bug;
it's a second task running to prove that the multitasking actually
works.
JPEG 921x693 (85KB) | | A faked screenshot (better readable)
PNG 800x600 (5KB) |
|
26.2.1999 - The first game ever ported to AROS was Moria3D (what happened to it, btw.

JPEG 264x346 (23KB) |
 | A room
JPEG 264x346 (22KB) | |
|
24.6.1997 - Here are two older screenshots from programs which at that time still ran
directly in an X window, because a layers.library did not yet exist. At
this time each AROS window mapped to an X window. Today when AROS is running
hosted under Linux an X window represents an AROS screen.
 | Demo of some rendering modes and gadgets.
PNG 650x540 (6KB) | | Displaying Amiga icons
PNG 749x392 (7KB) |
